콘테스트 개요
I am working on a set of themed playing cards based on the Arthurian legend and would like someone to create the backs in Illustrator. The cards backs should be built around a coat of arms illustration that I had drawn a couple of years ago (file attached). Unfortunately the illustrator who drew the designs lost the original layered .ai file and was only able to provided a layered PSD. While I used image trace in order to experiment with the design, there is a minor loss of detail and limited ability to edit.
UPDATED NOTES:
1. Please focus on card design and layout. Do not get sidetracked worrying about vectorizing the coat of arms.
2. For the time being you should be able to use the file LOC_Coat of Arms_Vector_Clear_Background.ai or the LOC_COA_B&W_Illustration_Transparent_Small.tif as a working file.
3. Design should be flexible enough to work as white against color background, color (spot PMS, foil or metallic ink) against a white or black background, or multiple colors against a white or black background (such as different colors for each COA animal).
4. Card back design must have top-bottom mirror symmetry
5. You can simplify the illustration if you feel it will work better for your design
6. (optional) Lords of Camelot title can be worked into the design at small size.
7. The final card backs should be vector files in Adobe Illustrator (see Workflow Approach below)
In addition to the working vector, I am including a transparent TIFF file, a few face cards from the the series, as well as samples of back designs that I like.
The project is for card backs only. You can provide multiple submissions. Feel free to ask questions.
Thanks
WORKFLOW FOR VECTORIZING COAT OF ARMS
This is the approach I would take to convert the high rez PSD into a layered, editable vector file. (For now do not get hung up on this part of the project as I may handle the conversion to vector myself).
1. open the high resolution photoshop file as a TIF
2. use cut and paste to separate individual element (lion, dragon, griffin, wolf, crown and sword, shield, frame, etc.) assigning each element to a separate layer
3. turning off all others layers, use cut, erase and/or masking tool to clean up each individual element.
4. once all elements are cleaned up, save each with separate file name as a transparent TIF or PNG.
5. Open each element file in illustrator and use high resolution image trace to convert into a vector (detail loss should be minor).
6. Do any clean-up to the vector.
7. Group vector elements > duplicate > flatten duplicate group as a separate layer
8. Create a new Illustrator document. Copy over flattened element layers and reassemble coat of arms.
This will result in a highly detailed, editable, and layered master vector file.
