I'm a cloud engineer supporting AWS workload on a daily basis and have deep understanding of most AWS services (especially core services such as EC2, S3, Route53, ELB, RDS etc). Even if you decide to go with another freelancer, I thought I'd ask some questions which might help you identify what the root cause is; 1. Where do you see the 5XX/502 error? is it on the ELB or your web server? 2. What OS is your web server running? apache/nginx/IIS etc 3. Any CloudWatch metrics that stands out? (for EC2/RDS)? 4. Is the S3 being used to store static content for your web server? any other dependencies between EC2 and S3? 5. What led to you believe it was a geographical issue? do you have geo routing on Route 53? CDNs? 6. Lastly, how often do these users that have connection issues happen? is it isolated to the same group of users/location? what time does it occur usually? Hopefully you dont mind me asking these questions, but it'll probably save a lot of potential back and forth/briefing time for me or any other freelancer (that hopefully knows what to do) I deal with these kind of issues on a daily basis and would be happy to identify the root cause and explain my troubleshooting process for your future reference :)
