I'm very interested in the marine application side of the work... I believe what you need is 1) ESP32 hardware with a CAN bus transceiver on a circuit board 2) An application that runs on iOS and talks to the ESP32 and reads the CAN bus through that hardware. So, you need the ESP32 hardware with a program that allows you to pair up through BT and read a serial stream of data. And you need the app which will display that serial data. Arduino is one option for software development on the ESP32. It is not the only option -- there is also writing the software in the esp-idf, or Mongoose-OS. For iOS -- you can write software in several different tools -- or you may be able to find an off-the-shelf iOS serial tool which will be enough to read lines of text coming from the ESP32 hardware. There are a few ways this can proceed... so I'm over-estimating the cost and we can reduce these numbers to fit your intended plan. I would design the circuit board design, make the circuit board, assemble and test the prototype, and write that CAN and BT software in the ESP32 -- and could even place the product in a nice box. You need this at a minimum. Secondly, I would write the software in Flutter -- which exports to iOS and Android... or we find you a pre-made serial port monitor product for your iPad. And one last clarification -- I don't work on credit. I can't spend my own money on the items that you need -- so money has to flow for this project to progress.
