I have a Flame Boss temperature controller for my smoker. If you are not familiar, the controller reads temperatures in the smoker and then controls a variable speed fan attached to the firebox to regulate oxygen flow to the fire which then controls heat inside the smoker. I would like to have a similar device developed to operate a small wood stove I have in a small off-grid cabin. The device would read the temperature inside the cabin and then regulate a fan attached to the stove to control temperature inside the cabin (i.e. as the cabin temperature drops, the fan speeds up and as the cabin temperature rises the fan speed slows or stops). I’m envisioning a programmed arduino controller that accepts as an input a simple battery/wall thermostat that would provide a set temperature and a constant temperature reading and then as an output it would power and regulate the same fan that attaches to the Flame Boss. I would simply use the Flame Boss controller but the setting to control the smoker does not drop below 100 degrees (which is too high to regulate the temperature). After a quick search, there seems to be some open source software on the internet that has algorithms around fan speed at different temperatures but I do not know how to program. With very clear instructions, I could buy the materials and assemble the device. I have successfully assembled Raspberry Pi devices in the past.

Hi. We can fake the temperature values to the flame boss controller. We can give it a higher value so it will drop the temp. So the actual temp will be below 100. I think that is the best option. We just have to bypass the Temperature sensor. Or we can go with your option. Then We need to open your current temperature controller and see what kind of fan it has. We have to see If it regulates the RMP by voltage and how it gets RPM readings(I think via pulses). Let me know. We can discuss more. I think you only need to buy an Arduino Nano Since we can get other hardware from the flame boss controller.

Hello. I like your project. I would also like something similar. I can complete your task. I want to suggest you to implement this on Arduino, if you have experience with electronics, you can try to apply PID control (you will need to adjust the coefficients, I will help). This will allow you not to go beyond the selected temperature. I propose to build a model in Proteus and debug the code. I have Arduino modules, then I can test everything on a prototype. If you will use Flame Boss, then I need information from you about the type of signals from the temperature sensor. I. and what signal do I need to control the fan. Is it PWM or DC or..?
