Hello Ivan, Ex-Saffer here living in the Philippines. I am writing to you because I took great interest in your project requirements and I think I still have something here to help you. At one stage in the Philippines, about 5 years ago, I ran a water purification and refilling station and after receiving a series of bizarre bills for water I started to suspect the water company's meter. They're a lot like in SA. They don't care for a single damn thing other than collecting money for as little effort as possible, so to have them check the meter was more a process of brushing the dirt off it, looking to see if it looks like a water meter and then declaring it was OK. So I had to take matters in to my own hands and I built most of what you are looking for. A water meter with a flow sensor, data logger and WiFi. I didn't have the needs for solenoids and what not. I still have that code which also had calibration mechanisms and things in there and although its for an older generation Arduino it's still easily portable. Hi Ivan, my name is Tarek. I am embedded system engineer so I have deep experience in this kind of projects. First of all, I want you to make know that all you want to do is completely feasible but there are “a couple” of things that you have to keep in mind before facing this project. 1. Which kind of water meter you have? I mean, what is the interface exposed by this device (SPI, I2C, UART...)? Does it use a standard high level communication protocol? If that’s not the case, is this communication protocol well documented? Is this documentation available? 2. Where will this device be placed? I mean, must it have battery powered? Will there be an available wifi network (wifi is not the best protocol for battery powered devices)? What I propose you is, if you can answer me questions asked earlier, an scalable design based on your needs with basic functionality. I would simulate the water meter in order to inject data to the system. So, what I would provide you would be: 1. A fully documented system 2. Necessary hardware/software design to gather data from water meter and to send to a web application. In this case, I would provide you the software and hardware schemes through gitlab, for example. Note that hardware itself would not be included. 3. A basic web app that shows required data and user login. You can always extend system functionality. I hope it is enough for yo.
