autoethnography -- 2

An autoethnography is like an autobiography, in that both of them are written by you, about you. But, while an autobiography is your own life story, an autoethnography is more of an examination of your behavior and your ideas as they relate to a specific place.   This assignment requires you to write a brief autoethnographic essay (3-4 pages) of where you live or like to spend time (this can be defined as your home, apartment building, neighborhood, local hang-out, school library, etc. or wherever else).
 Use MLA format for your paper and make sure that it is minimally 3 FULL PAGES at least!    It must be a place that you currently inhabit, visit or spend time in currently.    Your materials for this essay will be your field-notes (i.e. written observations you make about daily life in this place) and material from a short interview with a family member or close friend. The successful assignment will describe:  
 1) Your observations in the setting of the place (what it looks like, feels like, what goes on there on a daily basis)   2) The history of the place, or how it came to be the way it is today (this could be anything from a family history, to talking to a neighbor or older relative about the history your block or neighborhood, to internet research on the history of a neighborhood).    3) Your role in this community (what’s your place here and what does that mean to you?). Also, you can include some photos, sketches, and notes to your assignment apart from the 3-4 pages of text that you wrote , i.e. the paper itself)   4) Include your own thoughts, ideas, and analysis (explain why you think certain things happen where you are. Think about the kinds of interactions you have in these places).     **This is not a formal research project. This is a documentation of your life in a certain place over a period of time. Discuss the things you encounter at this location, what kinds of interactions occur there, and why this place is important to you. Tell me why you chose this place.
