I support a Council and one of my tasks is minutes from their monthly meetings. I record the minutes and then transcribe them word for word. After transcription, I attempt to distill the 1.5hr discussion to the most salient points and then write a reasonably readable version.
The original word for word transcription typically results in approximately 12 - 15 pages. By the time I'm done editing, I usually have about 3-5 pages. I'm not a writer and this process is very stressful for me and probably never done well. The Council must approve my version of the minutes at the following meeting each month and sometimes that gets a little tricky.
