Longtail Studios is looking for a freelance copy editor/ proofreader to edit localized versions of video games.
We are currently looking for a copy editor/proofreader for the following languages:
Chinese (simplified)
The copy editor/proofreader must be a native speaker of the target language with good knowledge of English. The ideal candidate should be familiar with the pop-culture in China, have writing and proofreading experience. He/she should reside in Mainland China.
The job demands accurate editing, familiarity with video games, and excellent grammar, usage, and spelling skills. The ability to write creative copy is a major plus.
Minimum two years of copy editing/proofreading experience is required.

Our games are dialogue-based, funny and read more like a comic book. Therefore, we really want to find somebody who can make the game sound as if it was originally written in Chinese. The game has been localized/translated from English into Simplified Chinese. It has 7 scenes and a total of 22.000 words (source). Most of the text is in Excel, the rest are text files. In addition to going through the text, this job requires playing the emulation of the game.
