Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will perform as a lead database administrator providing operational and maintenance support which ensures that systems are fully functional and available. This requires investigation into system outages, data refreshes, security patches, software and hardware updates, functional enhancements, programming, testing, training and document development. Responsibilities further include performing data analysis and evaluation, developing data migration strategies, performing data cleansing activities, performing data migration, monitoring production data base performance, and recommending and executing database performance tuning.
Specialized Knowledge:
Database management system patching and overall maintenance,
Database management system back-up and restoration inclusive of the development and execution of documented procedures,
Data correction and update within existing data structures,
Updating of data structures and data population,
Experience with DBMs such as Oracle and SQL Server as well as both flat file and indexed data storage techniques,
Experience with SQL and/or PL*SQL,
Experience with program design and development with data interfaces including JDBC/ODBC, APIs, Container based web-application hosting.
Data integration tools such as Oracle’s SOA, BPEL etc.
