Transfer of Skill in Africa

1 Introduction This is a project intended to get young people equipped with daily life skills that would get them into employment opportunities and / or self – employed. Computers have taken over our daily lives and such skills are in great demand spanning from the banking industry, retail sectors, manufacturing to mention but three. Operations of each of these industries is carried out by computers embedded behind the scene to either record transactions, or move machinery. For this reason(s), youths should endeavor to learn these skills and use them in their communities for the betterment of all stakeholders. 1.1 Scope Background and Objectives This document outlines the environment that is to be built for the Proof of Solution test systems. It details the hardware, software, configurations and the specifications of each system component. This document has been produced to meet the School’s Test Cell Requirement for building a computer system for youths to undertake and become engineers. Every device such as Automated Tele Machines has a computer built within. These systems also apply to Electronics Point of Sales which are normally concealed under the tills in a customized mode. Such is what is required for the youths of today and engineers of tomorrow should acquire if they are to compete with the outside world of technology. This is a project intended to enable youths acquire technical skills that would make them self – sufficient and independent to earn their living. The main aim is to train young people how to build a computer system from the ground upwards. That is to say, from start to finish. This will enable them understand the components within the computer system and be able to repair or replace them when the need arises. Assumptions and Constraints The following assumptions and constraints are recorded upon which this document is dependent.
