We're seeking a proofreader for an upcoming released sci-fi fantasy eBook, around 5,200 English words (~16 A4 pages) in total, available online (Google, Kindle etc.). The applicant MUST be an English native speaker from English-speaking countries (natively) such as: US, UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand etc... We won't consider you if you are not. The proofreader is required to do the following: [1] seeking for mistakes (grammatical, typo etc...) [2] check the characters dialogue, based on the judgement on natural speaking and suitability for that character. [3] Check the paragraph transitions for readability and smoothness (in reader POV). [4] Adjust paragraph (e.g. suggest a position that starts a new paragraph) if needed. [5] Suggest the use of words in any sentence(s) to enhance the text, based on your thought in terms of the context. [6] write down brief notes to explain all the above items. This English book is a translated version from its Chinese counterpart. Please take into account when you proofread and suggest the editing. NOTE: * The maximum budget is 100 USD only. Thank you for your detailed project description. I registered with Freelancer in February last year and have 132 reviews, all positive. English is my first language and my skills include technical writing, editing, proofreading, and transcribing. At the beginning of this year I took on a role as the copy editor for The International Journal of Wellbeing, an online journal, and several months ago I began as the copy editor for the Blind Foundation of New Zealand. One of my earlier projects with Freelancer was to edit a 65,000-word science fiction novel, and the client was so pleased with my work that he commended me to Freelancer, and an article about me was published by Freelancer. For two years I was a copy editor for Elsevier Science Publishers in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, rewriting text by authors who were not native English speakers. I have worked with individual clients to bring more than 25 books to publication and five of these clients have rehired me to work on further books. Having been a teacher of English in high school for four years, I have spent many hours making corrections and suggestions for students' essays. For an additional two years I was a teacher of English as a second language. I will not be available from 21 - 23 October.
