Hey, I have quite a bit of experience with different microcontrollers that can be used to control several appliances. A microcontroller will allow you to either pre-program within it's firmware the set time intervals for being on/off or will allow you to attach some sort of user buttons, DIP switches, etc. to do so. In order to control your 12V motor - you could use a relay, however there are several MOSFETs that should be able to work at 12V. They are cheaper and are much smaller. I've done a very similar project to this - but instead of a motor, I was controlling a USB device (see link at end). I just some more information: - What is the current rating for your motor @ 12V. Also please confirm that it is 12V as the MOSFET solution will not be capable of handling high mains voltages. How exactly is the motor currently being plugged in? - is it a standard wall socket or red/black wires? - What user interface are you looking for to control the timers - are DIP switches okay? - If you could provide some information on the usage of this device, I will be able to make a better judgement as to what parts will be suitable. (or enough some standard interface like RS485 and set of configuration\state registers like Modbus) 12V is it direct pump power? pump is a brush DC motor? (or som sort of brushless machine) Cycle is infinity continues or cycle counter must be?what Is it mus have heat, dust, humidity protection? (in IP rate please, if possible)

I have been doing electrical and control systems for over 25years. This seems a very simple task - what else is there to it? What voltage is the motor? Is is single phase power or 3 phase power? Do you have specs on the pump motor? How do you want to adjust the timers? What do you expect someone to deliver to you?
