Web Designer Job Band: Band C Type: Permanent/ Contract Salary: DOE Location: Kolkata/ Remote Overview This role is for an experienced Web Designer to join a self-contained & very enthusiastic team of technical developers & designers to work on a revolutionary technology based project. This role will see you plan, create and code web pages, using both non-technical and technical skills to produce websites that fit the customer's requirements. You will be involved in the technical and graphical aspects of pages, producing not just the look of the website, but determining how it works as well & might also be responsible for the maintenance of an existing site. Tasks to be performed in this role typically involve: meeting clients to identify their needs and liaising regularly with them; drawing up detailed website specifications; designing sample page layouts including text size and colours; designing graphics, animations and manipulating digital photographs; registering web domain names and organising the hosting of the website; presenting initial design ideas to clients; coding using a variety of software; working with different content management systems; search engine optimisation; meeting relevant legal requirements such as accessibility standards, freedom of information and privacy; designing the website's visual imagery and ensuring it's in line with company branding policy or the requirements of the client; proof reading content and making changes where necessary; editing content, debugging code and re-designing web pages; working with other web specialists including web developers and graphic designers; liaising with outside agencies; testing the website to ensure it is working; post-implementation technical support; training other staff; researching current design trends; continual professional development to keep up to date with new software developments. Technical Knowledge required in : coding: HTML; Javascript; jQuery; Dreamweaver. programming: .net; XML/XSLT; ASP; PHP; Python. design and graphics: InDesign; Illustrator; Photoshop; Fireworks; Flash. content management system (CMS): Wordpress; Adobe Business Catalyst; Drupal; Ektron; Zope. Other skills required: Experience working with holograms (preferred but not mandatory) Agile Development Methodology Designing virtual platforms/augmented reality concepts Designing concepts and publicising ideas in social media (Facebook, Twitter) Translating design concepts to be understandable for the developers Working in Rapid Development/Faster Time To Market projects Retail domain experience Gathering requirements for animation in the project or website design/development analysis & problem solving; a good eye for detail; communication skills; ability to work with others and to take direction; networking skills and commitment to projects through previous work experience; the flexibility to switch between several projects at once & work during stressful phases self motivated & ability to teach yourself new technical skills; Assessment: Interviews will be conducted & ahead of the interview candidate must submit a sample website that has been self developed or developed by the candidate with some support/a team Working hours are regular office hours (approximately 40 hours a week) but, as deadlines approach, you may need to work overtime, including at the weekend. Flexitime is quite common. The role may need some travel to other sites of the employer as per project requirements. Salary is dependent on expertise & experience with holidays, bonus and annual pay review.
