Star Wars Bibliographic Database (SWBD)

My name is Dr. Brant Raven and for as long as I can remember I have had a deep passion for Science Fiction. My love for the genre really intensified in 1977 with the release of Star Wars and I have since then been fascinated with The Saga, collecting and reading everything I could. Being academically minded my collection consisted largely of reading material. As I grew older, my love for Star Wars quieted, but in 1997 with the re-release of The Saga my passion re-ignited and I began writing about Star Wars and the impact it had on culture. As part of my research, I compiled and curated thousands of articles, catalogues, photos, art, drawings...basically anything that is printed and published...from different organizations, books, magazines and individuals. I maintained details of each item in a local database called The Star Wars Bibliographic Database (SWDB). As technology improved and became centralised on the Internet, the ability to do deeper research became easier and I started to realise that the SWBD could itself be a valuable resource for those who love Star Wars and Science Fiction. My wish now...especially with new Star Wars movies being produced...is to publish and share the SWBD online allowing fans and researchers alike to discover the wondrous spread and reach of the Star Wars Saga through published works. I am hoping to be able to publish an initial release of the SWDB by the 4th of May 2017 (Star Wars Day). All those contributing to this project by that date will be listed on the final site as Founders. The SWBD is a “labour of love”! It is a tribute to the Star Wars Sage and a gift to the Star Wars and the Science Fiction communities. Its primary purpose is to maintain a single reference point for anything published on Star Wars. Design Type: New Website Purpose of the Website: Informational / Online Brochure Additional Comments: This is NOT a job I can pay any money for! The idea is simply based out of my passion for Science Fiction (and specifically Star Wars), my desire to create something useful and unique, and my inability to code well for the web. This job would suit someone who shares a passion for Star Wars and really would love to see this work published and extended. It would further suit someone that is keen to show their ability in Web and Database Programming. I am very happy to discuss co-ownership of the database with whomever is interested. While most areas of Star Wars have been published and conceived, I have not seen a good Bibliographic Database online...so this would very much be a first.
