Hide/Show Form Fields and Retain Values

I need help with a search form that has some conditional drop-down fields and radio buttons (triggered when you do a search in United States). I am using javascript to hide/show these fields. I am also using javascript to save the values, so that users who return to the form via the back button or otherwise will see their last selections. You may view the form here:

Right now, the form works perfectly in Firefox/Mozilla but has some glitches in IE. Specifically, if you do a non-US search and select one or more of the check boxes, then hit the back button, it doesn't remember the check box selections. If you do a US search and click the distance radio button, it doesn't remember that. I need a form that remembers EVERYTHING and works in all browsers, if possible.
