Simple Bash script to send an alert e-mail

I'm looking for a simple bash script that will work like this:
1. execute the following command on my RedHat server...
# exim -bpc
2. read the output
example: 37
3. send me an e-mail if the output is above a number that is defined within the script.
So the script has three variables:
alert_email_address=
alert_subject=
alert_me_if_higher_than=
