Fix internal SSL server issue

We run a website that uses a wildcard SSL certificate. The SSL certificate is valid and correct everywhere when accessed via the public web, but our problem is that any internal requests from our CentOS-based Linux server fail. The message we receive is "Verification error: self signed certificate in certificate chain". We have spent hours trying to fix this issue with no luck, and need some help.
It is also complicated because the public accesses the site behind a load balancer, which is configured correctly, but internal network requests from the certificate installed on this server itself are what is failing.

seems like the SSL has not been configured on the server level. it will take a few mins to upload and configure it on the server. need a valid SSL certificate, SSH access. also, provide the stack details.
