Update Magento 2 product and category page for Special Price configurable product

I need a layout customization on the product and category page of a Magento 2 store to show the original price and the discounted price of a configurable product.
Default behavior of Magento 2 is to show only the original and special price when the options of a configurable product are selected. All our configurable products exists of simple product with the same price. So the price of a configurable product doesn't change in case another option is selected.
Requested change:
When a configurable product is moved to a category with a category discount configured (eg 50% off). I want the original product price to show and the discounted price. Eg. Original price is 50 EUR, so discounted price is 25 EURO. Both prices should be shown on the category and product page. We don't set special prices because the source of our product prices is a POS system. We only use categories with discounts configured.
