113021 Web 2.0 - video site (youtube)

We are looking at 3 different web based applications that already exist on the marketplace today to determine which one would best fit our needs and wanting to work with a programmer that can take one of these 3 scripts (or provide another) that will allow us to accomplish our goal. The 3 applications are as follows: - AttachMax ([login to view URL]) - AltraSoft Video Share Enterprise ([login to view URL]) - ClipShare ([login to view URL]) Of the 3 listed above, we have only gotten responses from AlstraSoft & ClipShare - so we are not too sure about using the AttachMax solution - due to poor support thus far on pre-sale questions). We are wanting to setup a "Web 2.0" style web site using these solutions that will enable us to run an online streaming video web site with integrated blogging (text & video blogs). As it stands, all the above applications are claiming to have similar functionality to that offered by YouTube. We have reviewed the applications and they seem to have adequate functionality for video streaming which is a pretty important base for our project. They also claim to have developed their applications in a modular structure. I'm wanting to setup a site that will run similar to YouTube does, however one that incorporates more of a blog-like style of description about a video so that users can post more editorials and associate a video with that editorial. The main focus obviously being video streaming and playing, however we need to give users the ability to setup an account on our site (either for free or for a small fee). They are then given the ability to upload video's or to create their own online blog. The domains should be setup as [login to view URL] & [login to view URL] just so that users can give out their web site address on our site and use it. Users should be able to customize a bit the look / feel of their site - by choosing colors & such - so when you access [login to view URL] it'll be branded to look like their site, however if you access a video through the main site, the default theme for the entire site will be applied automatically. We need to be able to allow users to choose if they wish to moderate comments posted on any video or blogs uploaded or to automatically allow them to be uploaded. We need to have a filter setup where if video's containing specific "keywords" in the description or title of the video are held for moderation from the main site admin. We will be selling advertising space on this web site, so we need to have a place where advertisers can sign-up to be part of our advertising pool. This will be either flash banners or animated / static gif's. With the AlstraSoft product, we do like their "Flash Ads Plugin" feature, however it's not really a necessity for us to launch the site - if it's successful, this can be a 2nd phase add-on. Having that said, we would need the selected developer to customize the application to allow us the following functionality: - XHTML / CSS coding structure (pass W3C compliance) - we would provide you with the sliced design to integrate into the application. you just need to make sure that functionality is - AJAX / SAJAX to give dynamic functionality to the application - when posting a comment, or posting a blog or browsing through other videos, it shouldn't force the user to have to load different pages each time - so they can view the video and still "interact" / "work" with the site. Looking at a lot of the sites, they are missing a lot of dynamics which can make navigation easier - we need someone that has a clear understanding of AJAX / SAJAX. - Better Uploading Utility - more user friendly uploading process. % & file size upload utility - AJAX / SAJAX or flash so that if they are uploading large files, they are shown exactly where they are in the upload process. - Page structure - change the page structure of the site to run from single files ([login to view URL]) to a virtual directory structure that is SEO friendly ([login to view URL]). - Channels - we would like to be able to setup different channels to run on this web site and to have users upload videos / blogs to associate with various different channels. The format of the channel and the name of the channel should be indicated within the URL of the video or of the blog - just for SEO purposes and to group (ex url: [login to view URL]). If a user was to remove the "/title-name-of-video", or access a URL that is no longer valid, it would show a directory listing of the main channel ([login to view URL]). Since a channel is mearly their own "broadcasting area", users should also be able to provide a link to their own channel in the form of [login to view URL] to link to their main channel page (users can subscribe - via RSS or add them to their friends list - social networking) or they may give a url of [login to view URL] to give access to videos or [login to view URL] to give access to their blogs. - Video's URL - when showing video's it needs to have a virtual directory structure so that all video's are SEO friendly. So instead of showing [login to view URL] it would show [login to view URL] - Video Keys (embedded video's) - we want to give users the ability to click on a button and to be given code that they can copy & paste to include into their own web site or to send to others. When doing this, we want to use a hashed / unique keycode structure through virtual directory (intead of [login to view URL] - it would be [login to view URL]). If the keycode is NOT valid, then it would have a function that would bring the user to the main page of the video. Url's should be able to link with or without the channel name associated to it. - Video Player - we will get full source codes to the flash players if purchasing any of the 3 listed scripts above. You will need to integrate our designed player (it looks different than those provided) into the video player and may need to add playing functionality. Our player requires the ability to play, pause, stop, rewind and fast forward. It also needs to show total play time of the video with the title of the video in a "news ticker" format. It also requires the ability to increase / decrease sound and to expand into a full-screen mode (which will actually open up an HTML page that displays videos in a format similar to [login to view URL] (this way there's still the ability to rate videos, etc...). If the video is opened into a full-screen mode, it's done so in a pop-up window and the previous video playing within the main site MUST stop playing. - Blogging - THE BIG difference we need here is that all users that setup an account to upload a video need to be give the ability to run a BLOG from the web site. - Each video posted can either have a short blog entry (like YouTube comments) or a FULL blog entry (like Blogger or WordPress). Not every post will be a full blog, some will be just a cool video that they found or made and some might be video blogs, so this will contain just a small amount of text instead of a full blog which would include much more text. - RSS Feed - Users accessing the web site should be able to access a "general" complete web site RSS feed or to subscribe to a feed ONLY for a particular user - would notify via RSS of new BLOG entries or new video's that are added to the site. - Tags - each blog should be added into categories as setup by the user that is responsible for the blog. They should also be able to add / associate tags with this. It would automatically upload into their channel, but they can tag so that the videos or blogs can be cross-linked together by the tags created. This way if I'm looking at username1 and he's got a tag of "dogs", the system can also show a link / capture to a blog or video from username2 because he's using the same tag. - Social Networking - the 3 referenced scripts support the ability to add people to friends lists. This should be present within the application but should be very minimal functionality. The only time you should be able to view their friends list is if you access [login to view URL], otherwise it will just list the video's. The social networking component should support the following functionality: - add to friends (adds to their friends list - needs acceptance by the friend - ability to remove) - add to favorites (ads them to their favorites - no acceptance needed - just will show them updates regularly ability to remove) - send a message (internal messaging system - sends notification email upon receipt of a new message - send & delete - ability to restrict messages to only friends) - Banner Advertising - The web site will reserve 2 places on EACH page for banner ads to appear. We need to have advanced analytical information for advertisers. # of page views, # of click throughs to show an ROI. The banners MUST directly link to the users web site using AJAX - this way it tracks the clickthrough on our site, but is considered a direct link (for SEO purposes). Therefore with AJAX, we need to log the click to track the clickthrough, but the actual URL it's linking to will be the advertisers actual domain name (direct link). This is the application in a nutshell. If you fit with the profile we are looking for, a full project spec sheet will be sent over to you. Like our other projects, we are not looking to setup relationship with a short term developer as once this project will launch, we will want to make enhancements to the application. Understand that we are serious about this, an NDA must be signed along with a legal development agreement to protect our intellectual property.
