Home Assistant is an Open Source project for Home Automation. See [login to view URL] It is expandable through some kind of plugins, that they call "Components" and are mostly written in Python. I need a component that gets input from a NMEA-0183 stream and publish it to a MQTT broker (Mosquito). The input stream will be either from a COM port (serial communication from a USB port), or from ethernet (NMEA sentences broadcast via UDP) The MQTT topics and payloads will be set based on the received NMEA sentences. There must be a "throttle" mechanism in order to reduce the frequency of topics that are published to the MQTT broker. This will be configurable Everything will be installed on a Raspberri PI This is the first part of the project. If it will be successfully done, other similar projects will follow

Ive done simmilar project.. best at py Relevant Skills and Experience I have done a number of projects on raspberry. A home automation system is one of them. I am good in python, rust, java and php.
