Script to pass incoming email to SMS API

I use a webapp called BuilderTrend ([url removed, login to view]). For each of our users we can set a "Cell Email Address" that can email out out status messages to an Email to SMS gateway. It's setup for the US market so we'll have to hack something to get it to work in the UK.

The format of these messages is

We have no control of the format or contents of this message apart from the "To:" field.

I want to use [url removed, login to view] to be our sms gateway. Their API documentation is here:

I have a normal hosting package for my company with Cpanel etc. My initial idea is that on my website Cpanel you can setup a mail filter to pipe these incoming emails to a script.

So for example we have a could setup a user on BuilderTrend with the "Cell Email" address of 447123445678 [at] [url removed, login to view]

The script will take this incoming emails from stdin and if looks like the correct format will strip the phone number and message body and POST (or GET) these to the txtlocal api.

I'm open to suggestions to other approaches to get this to work, I don't won't to use Cron as I'm limited on my hosting package how often that can run.

I'm sure this could be done in 1 line by a Perl Guru :) I'm sure there are all sorts of error handling checks we could put in but I'm not expert enough to know how to approach these.
