Description: We are a company which provides measurement services for antenna measurements. Currently all metadata and data are stored in folders on a volume. A database for internal use only shall be created to administer all the metadata up to now and all future metadata. The measurement data itself should not be included in the database, only as a link to a datafile for example. There is no old version existing, the development will start from scratch (Database, Program, GUI). We are looking for a developer who brings experience in Python, databasis and GUIs. Database / Program functionality: • Filter for several items • Import of already existing datasets, but also new ones • Flexibility of the database is important o Add new dataitems, etc. • Creation of new datasets (projects) • Modification of items • The program shall be written in Python Knowledge • Languages o Python (Main Language) o Database language (*SQL*probably) o Matlab (advantageous) o GUI Framework (t.b.d.) • Database architecture and programming • GUI programming Tasks • Support / Know-How / Consultant o Selection of a GUI framework/plattform (Qt, PyForms, etc., open for all) o Consultant for Software architecture o Database selection • Creation of o Database model o Database o Program (GUI)  Filter  Create new datasets  import old/new datasets Conditions • Software development o Usa of a simple language (Python) o Usa of a simple but nonetheless a compliant GUI Framework (Qt, PyForms, etc.) o Fast development o Agil (advantageous) • Possibility to perform minor changes later on by ourselves • Program must be prepared for future modifications, imporvements, extensions and expansions (This is only the first step) Notes: • Timeline: Start: asap, End: beginning next year • You are the only porgrammer and are responsible for all • Communication language: german (advantageous), english • Remotely work possible but also periodically local work preferred

Hello! This sounds like an interesting project. I've done a similar project previously with Python + QT + SQLite. I'd suggest going the same route with your project. QT is an excellent GUI framework. You shouldn't have any trouble with it at all. What's more, they have recently released official QT bindings for Python. As for database, unless your data is HUGE, SQLite should handle it just fine. Using SQLite also eliminates any additional overhead of installing and managing a DBMS. The only unknown variable for me is the structure of your current data and how it should be parsed. But that isn't an unsolvable problem. You should also know that I have no knowledge of MATLAB. (But what's learning another language to a developer?) And I can't do local work as I'm in India and you're in Germany. But I'm perfectly fine handling the whole project solo. The timeline is also sufficient in my opinion. I can also provide excellent documentation for the whole project in case you need further modifications in the program in future. If you haven't already selected a freelancer, can we have a chat? I'm ready to do the project and I can start immediately.
