Bar Straightening Machine (BSM)( I designed a solidworks machine but required calculations as below)
A Bar Straightening Machine (BSM) is a machine that will be used for straightening bended reinforced concrete steel bars extracted for demolished buildings. Currently, workers straighten bended bars using manual methods that takes a lot of time and effort. The production capacity of such methods is very low. A BSM will make the process of straightening bars not only simple and very fast, but also we will get high quality very straight bars. The table below shows the basic mechanical properties of reinforcing concrete bars.

Main Specifications of the Machine
1. The machine should be able to straighten bars of sizes: 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 25, 32 mm
2. Power source options:
a. Electricity from the grid
b. Electricity from a diesel generator
c. Power from agriculture tractor
d. Manual using human power
3. The machine should be adjustable to take care of size variation and wear in mechanical components.
Deliverables:
1. You have to design the parts of the mechanical system with all required mechanical calculations, taking into account the following aspects:
you should deliver Bearing, threads, shaft, & factor of safety calculations with explanation
a. Parts should be strong enough to carry the loads
b. You do not need to worry about resonance since the speeds are very low
c. Deflections upon parts.
d. Minimum number of parts, Use standard parts and dimensions
e. Ease of assembly of the mechanical system.
f. Ease of manufacture of the parts forming the system.
g. Safety.
h. Minimize the cost of the system.
i. Try to select light weight material as much as possible.
3. Make part drawing of each part, and an assembly drawing of the whole system
4. Make a bill of quantities showing specification of each part.
