Hello, We are a small custom home builder in southern California and we have a project that has a ceiling with multiple curves that we will be applying a paneling to. The issue we ran into is that with the ceiling being curved in multiple directions, a rectangular panel will be mounted and the edges of another rectangular pattern will not match to it. Think of it as a beach ball, putting a piece of paper down, and then aligning another piece of papers edges to the edges of that one, they will not meet up correctly. So our solution to save us some installation hours we decided to get the ceiling 3D scanned, then 3D modeled, cut into panels within the CAD(Panelizing the ceiling), flatten/unwrap the panels to 2D, CNC the results, and put the panels in like a puzzle. The company we hired was able to do all of the digital work except for their last step, unwrapping/flattening the 3D panels. So what we need is someone to take the 3D model and unwrap/flatten the 3D panels to 2D so that we can get the panels CNC'd and see this project to completion. There is two seperate rooms, about 50 panels each so 100 total that we would need flattened. Looking forward to hearing from you, if you have any questions feel free to reach out. Thank you!

Hi, Please see some of my previous works on my freelancer.com portfolio. There is some 2d/3d cnc cut worsk and some laser cut works. I dont have much in my freelancer.com portfolio. But i have tons of previous experience on cnc machining. I am a 3d artist who has a lot of 2d / 3d cnc machining experience. I have worked on 3d scans a lot of time to make cnc machined sculptures, fiberglass molds etc. I have cnc machine operating experience too. I can design 3d parts, cut on cnc and get them together myself. I had a workshop in my home counrty ( i moved to another country 8 months ago ) I have real workshop experience with cutting, welding, assembling etc... I have total 15 years work experience. I would like to see some scans of the ceiling to understand requirements on 3d. I also dont waste your time and my time. Time is most valuable thing. Hi there. I’m a full time 3D design and modelling expert, specialising in Autodesk Fusion 360. I’ve read your description and it sounds like quite the mathematical problem! I don’t think I’ll have any issues solving it for you - I’ll load up your scan in Fusion 360, and from there I should be able to accurately reverse engineer your ceiling in a flat layout. Greetings I would be interested in taking up this project. I am certified SOLIDWORKS User providing CAD Design/Drafting services. I've hand-on experience in working on fabrication shops, operating various machine and tools manufacturing. Beside I've been involved with various products designing and development which enables me to understand the requirements for fabricating various kinds of components. - Do you've access to SOLIDWORKS premium version and 2016 or higher version? If yes then you can use the surface flatten tool to get the required (or close to required results). - I would also suggest to get a small scale (say 1/25th of size) panels for one room and check their fitment with each other to make sure that bigger panels would work. This may save a lot of time and money. - If you do not have access to SOLIDWORKS 2016 premium version then I can do the flattening job for you. I would be interested to help you resolve this project. I would ask how you a planning to fix the panels, whether you have visible fixings or battens to align to behind, what kind of edge gap your are assuming (to allow for panel thickness clearance), panel thickness and material, and tolerance you want to work to (bigger gaps/allowance will ensure your installation job is quicker onsite, and that would reduce your labour costs for reworks). Keep in mind, that the scan vs human installation will likely be slightly different. Allow also for the "stack-up" of tolerance/inaccuracy as the panels go up... so, that means it's more likely the last panels are probably going to be out of position. So, if you keep this in mind at the start, and have some idea about monitoring this as you go with the given fixing system or installation method, you'll be more likely to get a great finished product with less headaches! Do you imagine it will be 4-sided shapes only? .. Or more likely 3 sided panels (all different shaped triangles)
