School Readiness Social Media Videos

This project forms part of a wider community project based in Deception Bay, Australia to support children and vulnerable families to become better prepared and developmentally ready to start school at the age of 5. Research has found that many children in Deception Bay are found to be below average in their health and well-being and are commencing their first year of school (Prep) unprepared. By this we mean that are not developmentally ready, and are also not wearing uniforms exercising basic hygiene, eating well etc. This project component aims to create short educational videos for social media (Facebook and Instagram) that will help families to support their children to be better ready to start their first year of schooling. Project Task: Create 6 short videos for Facebook and/or Instagram in a basic animation style (photos pictures, words and voice over) that help to educate families in our community to support their children to become developmentally ready for their first year of schooling. Each video will cover a particular health topic. Topics will be: • Dressing appropriately for school • Getting to school on time • Nutrition/breakfast (not going to school hungry) • Bed time routines and sufficient sleep • Reducing school absences • Hygiene Videos are aimed at families with children aged 0-5 from a vulnerable community. They should be friendly and easy to understand. Also simple and not too long. Approximately 45 seconds – 1 minute Deception Bay Community Youth Programs is a small not-for profit organisation based in Deception Bay, Qld. Australia.
