About the project
Speechocean, an international company, is looking for people to participate in a global project to help build more inclusive voice-based technology. The project is collecting voice samples of how people talk in everyday situations. These samples are used to teach technologies to better recognize what people are saying in a wide variety of contexts.
How to contribute
This is a 2-hour recording session, including breaks, that provides compensation of $50 upon completion. You can do the session at home, at a time and date that works for you.
You’ll do some recording alone, and some with a partner (they’ll get paid too, and they don’t have to be with you in person). All you need is a smartphone to download our recording app and a quiet place to record.
If you don’t have a conversation partner in mind, we can connect you with another participant for that part of the session.
What you’ll do The app-guided recording session goes like this:
1. Read aloud sentences you see on the screen.
2. Have a casual conversation with another participant, based on suggested topics.
3. Upload your voice recordings and get paid.
Eligibility
The project is committed to ensuring inclusion across ages, gender identities, ancestries, and geographic locations. At this time, we are seeking people who were born in the U.S., who grew up in below regions, and identify as African American or American Native:
Atlanta, Chicago, Detroit, Dorchester County in MD, Lansing in MI, Los Angeles, Miami, New Orleans, New York City, Oakland, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Roswell in GA, Washington DC

Hello,
Thank you for the invitation. I am a professional voice artist, so I generally don’t get into these voice tech jobs. If you want someone like me to be involved in this, I would have to charge the GVAA rate, which is probably around $500.
If you can handle that rate I’ll be glad to talk to you.
Sincerely,
John Austin
Hi!
I have been teaching English for three years now, but I also do research, proofreading, transcription, voice overs, and data entry jobs on the side. My teaching job entails checking written and oral English activities on a daily basis. With this experience, I am confident that I will be able to deliver high-quality and well-organized outputs. Kindly check my audio and video introductions on my Freelancer profile. I am very flexible when it comes to the work schedule so I can give you project updates whenever you need them, and meet reasonable deadlines. Should you have any queries, or if you want more voice samples, please don't hesitate to contact me. Thank you, and I am very much looking forward to working with you.
Cheers,
Shannon
with my strict pronunciation stress
on British English, I can provide best experiential knowledge as to how a non-native speakers stresses upon different syllables and I being an Indian would be advantage to you to your research as to how Indianism is induced into the standard pronunciation.
I can't assure you with articulate expounded words like other bids, but I'll be a genuine support
hope and regards
Steven
I am an Indian so unfortunately I don't fit into your eligibility criteria but I loved your idea/concept of understanding voice, and I really want to join in. If it is possible, I'd love to be a part of this. I have kept my bid at minimum because I am more into idea rather than money.
Other than that, I have 3 bilingual native languages or languages I am really fluent at- English, Hindi, Gujrati and 1language which I can understand and talk a bit in is Marathi, native language of Indian state Maharashtra.
I am pre-assuming that English would be your pre-requisite and there Indian English comes to help. India has a huge population and English is the 2nd most spoken language in India with upto almost 90% people speaking English i.e. 1billion35million people so our accent could be a great benefit for your company
Unfortunately I am from the Phillippines, but I amquite confident with my pronunciation, diction, and voice quality. Contact me through my email or through my inbox. Thanks.
Greetings!
