I had the opportunity to start my career very early in life, moving to another city while still in college and never had the chance to finish my studies until recently.
Currently I’m coursing System Analysis and Development at CRUZEIRO DO SUL.
I’ve been working with Linux and System Administration professionally since 2008, but my first contact with Linux was in my pre-teen days, long before. I remember installing SuSE Linux in my computer and trying to convert my WiFi driver from Windows to Linux so I could have internet connection. This happened in 2002. During my teen years, I worked with several fan groups translating animes and mangas, configuring their servers and even an online radio, all this long before any official anime/manga company set foot in Brazil.
Some years later, I started as an intern at WebForce Networks, installing and configuring servers for XPG, their free and premium hosting brand. After a year, I was promoted and worked as the only Level 2 Support and SysAdmin for some side projects.
In the last 10 years, I worked mainly as a freelancer and consultant, until in 2013 I decided to start my own business with one partner and I’ve been working at our company since then as SysAdmin. In 2017 I decided to start a new business with three new partners where I work as SysAdmin and Team Manager. Both companies work with similar tech stack: PHP, Node, Redis, Memcached, Gearman, nginx, OpenLiteSpeed, MariaDB (MySQL), all running on top of CentOS 7.
After many years working alone in my field, I decided to work for Configr, a managed cloud hosting service in the hope of learning new skills and updating my knowledge. I started at Configr in 2019 as Level 2 Support so I could study their systems and their clients needs. Few months later I was promoted to Level 3 Support and Infrastructure Developer, working on escalated tickets, debugging applications and software and developing new functions to their systems using mainly Puppet and Python sometimes. Beside that, I also teach and train my coworkers from Level 2, hoping they also start fixing more complicated problems and have the chance to be promoted and work with me testing and developing new tech.
I have plenty of experience with CentOS, Ubuntu, nginx and OpenLiteSpeed, but I’m sure I can work with any other Linux distro or web server. I always optimize my servers to use the most of it’s resources, without compromising security or stability. Being a SysAdmin, is only natural that I have plenty of experience with shell scripting in bash and in the last year I also started to use Python 3.
