This project was something that really caught my eye at the outset - A book about a failed computer project for Freelancer buyer @phildram - because I was immediately reminded of The Mythical Man Month, Fred Brooks' essay on his own failures leading IBM's OS/360 project. It also brought to mind the UK's Yellow Pages Sales Ltd's failure to develop the Yell online platform, and Olan Mills Inc's UK wing failure to recognise the need to move to digital and embrace modern marketing in portrait studio photography. It was a complex project requiring an understanding of modern computer systems programming and I had the pleasure of writing a story, along with all the backstories of the main characters, as a novel-based-on-fact, but relocated to a different country and at a slightly different time, and then to do it in US English idiom and semantics rather than my native UK English. The sample here is one of the back stories.

Not one photo but six, thanks to the incredible post-production of a guy called Kimipoi in the Philippines on freelancer.com. Purpleport models Kristy at the front and Kristina_M in the pink. They are joined by Kristina's sister Natalie (left), Henny and Ellena, all from Sussex Youth Theatre who have all since joined Purpleport. Clothes all from Prom Dreams, and use of my original image of the north cloister at Lancing College Chapel by kind permission of the headmaster and the chaplain. Credit also to Photoshop artist Mohammed Rokibul in Bangladesh, again a freelancer.com member, who removed reflections from the door and window in the background, and also a temporary beam, cabling and water piping, plus two piles of builders' debris in use for renovation work on the chapel.
