MY WAY - ALIEN PARODY SKETCH AND SYNOPSIS
A misunderstood Alien I think is good, but what it is it's actually doing isn't particularly well defined in your brief so I took as a starting point the idea of fame and career. Alien was a movie that propelled a number of - industry wise - very well respected actors into household names. Including Ridely Scott. The only thing that got left behind as the franchise moved on was the titular Alien which - over subsequent films - became a parody of its original self. I like the idea of the Alien simply setting out to make a career for itself in entertainment, like any of the other performers in the movie, only itself being a bit of a ham - continually trying to convey its range to what it see's as industry people and impress them and every time falling flat - mostly because it's absolutely terrifying and ends up killing everyone it meets but also because it really isn't anywhere near as talented as it thinks it is - which is pretty much the franchise in a nut-shell, love it though I do.

The point is, Spaceship! (apparently they renamed it Naked Space when later released on DVD to cash in on the later Naked Gun franchise) came out, flopped around a bit and died a good 4 years before Space Balls was released at a fraction of that movies cost and, yes - though straight-to-betamax though it was and cheap (the entire budget basically went on the cast and it really shows) - nevertheless it nailed the comedy singing alien sketch thing totally years before that shoddy thing Mel Brookes turned in for Space Balls even made it on to the napkin he obviously scrawled it on, possibly as stick-figure drawings done in crayon, going by the sophistication of that clip.

Give the first minute/minute 30 a skip, the scene's even more wooden than the set - but the actual song itself is genuinely original and very funny (even viewed straight) and, if I'm going to lift anything from anywhere, I'm always going to lift something actually funny....

Hello, Jasmyn – thank you. Very kind of you to say. Indeed, it's true. Face-Huggers are mordantly misunderstood creatures. Very friendly, very tactile, incredibly considerate. Unlike cats, when you come home with your arms full of grocery's, a Face-Huggers the first to want to jump on your head and try to shove its... whatever that thing is – straight down your throat. Always happy to see you, no matter where you try and hide. Sardines is one of their favourite games. Terrible shop-lifters, of course. You never want to let one loose near a Quickie Mart – worse than magpies. Especially when it comes to Tupperware, for some inexplicable reason. Can't ever seem to want to steal enough of the stuff. But, on the plus side – they're very good with giving directions and, additionally – they're astonishingly fast typists...
