EDIT #1: MAKE SURE YOU READ!!! I am noticing that later submissions are simply copying the ideas of the earlier 5 star rated designs, more particularly #16 and #22. If a specific design appeals to me I will award to the first person who submitted it, not to someone who copies it, even if the copy is better. As it is, the people who copied have given me ideas on how to edit the artists who originally submitted the designs (again, more particularly #16 and #22). So, you can either continue to show me ways to improve the work of the original 2 artists, or you can come up with your own original idea and have a chance of winning the contest.

EDIT # 2: PLEASE do not submit several variations of the same design! I only need to see 1 and if I want to see edits, I'll let you know. Most of the rejections you see are because of this!


Need a logo for my soap and bath works company. The company name is Secret Desert Soapworks, and the desert theme I would like referenced is the Sonoran Desert.

Any plants or animals shown in the logo MUST be specifically from the Sonoran Desert.

The logo will be used on promotional materials, labels, and soap stamps, so, while it can be detailed, it must be simple enough that a silicone mold can be made from it to stamp through soap. It will have the words "Secret Desert" in it for sure, but I don't know if there is any way to get the word "Soapworks" in it without ruining the design. Just know the option to use that word is optional. The logo will have a border, the shape of the logo that is bordered... it's up to the designer. The color scheme would be the colors seen in a desert sunset or sunrise. (Google Sonoran Desert Sunrise or sunset yourself to see.. I have yet to see a single picture that does our rises and sets justice.)

Design something simple yet tasteful, maybe a javelina sniffing a hedgehog cactus flower with mountains outlined in the background, or a humming bird eating from a chuparosa flower, with a saguaro in the background. If you're really daring, find a way to incorporate a rattlesnake, one of our local lizards or a Gila monster! Doesn't matter. I just need it to be clear we are in the Sonoran Desert.

I am totally open to any ideas, as long as the basics "Secret Desert" is in the logo and the theme is the Sonoran Desert.

Just know I am more than aware of the number of readily available saguaro cactus and coyote clip art out there... if I wanted that, I would have made my own! I am looking for an original design. If I see any submissions with readily available free clip art, I won't even give the courtesy of a response and will not consider any entries from that person for the rest of the contest.

I recommend line drawing submissions first go around. I can tell from that alone if your concept is what I would be looking for and can offer suggestions. That way, you don't have to put that much effort in and still learn if your design is (or is not) in the running.

I will check for entries and answer questions every evening, though I may be away from the computer for a day or 2 at some point. I will respond to everyone.

      I am glad they are taking care of you. Make sure whoever you award to delivers vector files (.ai, .eps .pdf). A raster image (.jpeg .png .gif) does not print clearly or scale well.

      Dear Contest Holder, I feel sorry for what happened with you.. If possible please create a new contest for your requirement or just create a new project and select one of the existing contestants for your work. You could sort out the issue of this contest with Freelancer later..

      I saw in the FAQ that I can cancel the project which may undo the award. Before I start doing something that I may not be able to undo, I want to give freelancer a little more time. Once the award is taken away from the cheater, it will be awarded to the second-place finisher.

    Following is the response I got from Freepik.com when I asked whether or not the image taken from their web site and used for my logo by the false winner could be copyrighted by me. This is also to inform 'artists' who regularly pilfer work from other sites, even subscription sites.... it is NOT OK!

    I don't think I can truly convey just how difficult it was to decide the winner in this contest. There were so many wonderful entries. In the end, because my polls kept ending up in ties for the top two, I literally showed the entries to people at the gas station this morning where I was gassing up before work. Not sure if any contests has ever been decided that way, but this one was. The votes were 4 to 2 , with number 400 coming out the winner. Thank you to everybody who submitted entries you're all very talented artist

      You say you won't win a copy logo? Why do you appreciate a logo that is copied from Google? isn't it better to have a 100% logo even if it's ugly? can you open this contest again? and give another contestant a chance? it's very disappointing

    Just giving a status update. The matter has been reported to freelancer. Freelancer is based in Australia, and as we all know the continent is on fire right now. Not sure if this will influence how long it takes for freelancer to respond. I have also contacted the website where the image have been taken from for clarification in their words as to approved uses of their images. The individual who took the image does not seem to understand that while she may have been legally able to use the image in print materials it was only as background, illustrations too pretty up things like brochures, websites etc. The images themselves are copyrighted and trademarkd to the website and therefore cannot be copyrighted in a logo. Separate from that, I clearly stated in the details of this contest that I was looking for original work. It is my hope the freelancer will remove the awarding of this contest so that I can award it to the second place entry.

    Minutes after awarding, someone sent me the link where the winner had copied the work from. Freelancer has been notified. assuming the second-place finisher, number 359, can control his snarkiness, the contest will be re-awarded to him. I cannot believe how much cheating was involved in this contest. I'm extremely angry right now

      Also, one of the top five, the way it was entered, was not able to be viewed properly in the original poll. Once that entry is resubmitted oh, I'll rerun the Cole of the leaders. Did not become aware of the problem until just now. Had hoped to award today, but we'll be pushing it to tomorrow

      I was more impressed with the art and wasn't a paying attention to the logo potential. Logos have to be very simple. I have a coach who I I showed them to. He is saying a simple image and words so that when people see the image they will think of me. If the logo is too beautiful, with much Artistry in the background and many Design Elements, they will only think of the logo without thinking of me. With regret, I rejected many 5 stars that I believe they're works of art but they just can't be logos
