The project proposed to you drew my attention, since I am a biomedical scientist (MSc.) with a broad interest in fundamental research. During my education at Leiden University I have gained a strong understanding of the human body in health and disease. I will be able to provide an accurate and scientifically supported overview on the topic of human hereditary blood disorders. To showcase my understanding of SNPs leading to disease, I would like to highlight a project I worked on. Using data analysis I identified a SNP associated with the onset of osteoarthritis, the role of which I verified with functional follow up experiments. My writing skills are supported by three article-style medical research papers and a narrative scientific literature review in the field of Proteomics, regarding the high-throughput detection of post-translational modifications on proteins. While I am trained for academic writing, I'm able to match my output to any level you require. For example, I have successfully presented my scientific projects to a lay audience and I have summarized my research findings in poster presentations. I would love to help you out on this project and write a thesis on the specific blood disorder you are interested in. To make this project succeed, I will discuss the type of output you expect.
