Hello Michael. Although I live in Brazil now, I´m an American writer, researcher, editor and proofreader, a native English speaker with years of experience at assisting authors to improve and complete their books. I agree with George Washington and you that political parties are not in the people´s interest. Here in Brazil, and in the US and many other countries, while these parties pose as enemies of each other, they are all in fact partners, supporting a system where the rich interest groups form "gangs" and agree to alternate which gang has temporary control of the power and the use of the tax money paid by you and me. Each party has its supporters, including bankers, industry owners, etc., and these make plans of what they want to happen during the next 4 years. Then they have their Conventions, a big meeting where these party bosses select who will represent their interests in the public eye, the Candidates. Finally, they offer the candidates that they have chosen to the people, so that the people will choose between the candidates alrerady chosen by the bosses. This happens on the national, state and city levels. No matter who wins an election, they were already chosen by one party or another, and that party will run the show for 4 years, often making deals with the other parties to protect some of their interests as well, with the clear knowledge that they are protecting a small group of bosses and not the people. Please contact me for further discussion. Best, David
