Hi, This is fairly simple project that can be finished using only ESP8266 NodeMCU board. for cloud we can use cheap free platform like thingspeak, All resources available for accelerate development process. I can finish this project in 1-2 days, If there is no other sensor needed to buy(because there will be a delivery time). I have use Arduino since 2013 and had a structured workflow when it comes to arduino based project. Generally I'm professional Firmware engineer so, I will not dependend on arduino library, if there is no arduino library available, I can use direct register programming for device we will use. If you are open to suggestions then i would suggest using esp8266 instead of the arduino platform, the deepsleep capabilities and the overall footprint of it better than arduino and also comes with built it wifi and hence wont need any thing extra, feel free to check my profile for past projects and reviews and think about using the esp to esp to update to the cloud and go to deepsleep and wait for input.

First, depend on the specific requirement, the cost vary significantly. I'd worked on a project that run on a Panasonic 18650 Li-ion for years with daily wake up and use ESP12F chip. To keep the cost minimum, the following assumptions are made: - Wake up signal is a digital input. - On wake up, the ESP12F will just read an ADC value and submit to cloud (using Rest API). Scope: 1. Design the schematic for ESP12F. 2. Write code for ESP to be deep sleep and wakeup. No state management is kept (i.e. wakeup by reset). 3. Write a simple nodejs backend to provide API for the ESP12F to call. Data is stored in MongoDB (mySQL is possible). No board nor shipment is included in this quote. Addition cost is required if you want to make prototype and shipment. Thanks!

Hi. I work as Hardware Engineer in a company that develop IOT projects. My responsibilities in the enterprise are: Design the electronic circuits (analog, digital, control and power); Develop the code for the MCU and embedded systems using software like MPLAB X IDE, Arduino IDE and Python; Test and simulate the schematic of the circuit through simulation software (Proteus and MATLAB/Simulink).I have made projects relationated with the home automation using the internet of things using Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modules (ESP8266 and ESP32) and TCP/IP protocol mostly, but also using UART, I2C, SPI and 1 WIRE to communicate MCU with sensor, mostly current sensors and humidity and temperature sensor (DHT22). Also, the implementation of PIC12F, PIC16F, PIC18F, PIC24F and PIC32F, to make create sub circuits to measure data from sensors, creating small devices inside if the embedded system, like the design of a digital wattmeter with I2C communication with the master (ESP12F) using the PIC16F877A, Current and Voltage transformers. I have the hardware (esp8266) so i can test this code without bothering you. So development will be faster and robust. For good sleep mode i need to learn what hardware you are using. Some have nice hardware hacks for better sleep modes with less usage of watt but you may need to solder them. Can you solder?
