Zider will be a graphics engine coded in Visual Basic. Before you scoff and pass it off as just another engine, take the time to read on, because this will not just be another game engine doomed to fail but the template upon which all engines after it should fallow. Also note that the zider projects will be designed with the "possibility" of going commercial some time after compleation. So those of you who are sitting at home reading this, who have programming experience in VB as well as minimum experience with DX7 or DX8 can participate. The Zider project(s) will encompase a three section development schema. First the Zider engine itself. Second the Zider world editor and content creaton tools. And third a game based on the zider engine. First the engine itself. The engine will be designed with scale-ability in mind from the start. For instance release 1 of the engine will not (at first) be a fully 3D engine like say half-life/Quake 3. It will start out as a fixed camera side scroller engine. Some things that will make Zider stand out beyond other engines will be the fallowing... 1: It will have an extensive interface/add-in modal to allow develpers maximum connectivity and customization. 2: Ease of use will the the order of the day. Period! No excuses! 3: And most importantly the documentation will not only exceed far beyond the basics but will shatter any and all the competitions documented help. Forget static text, the documentation for Zider will push forward into things like animation with voice, pre rendered/sampled video, Lotus Screen Cam video with voice, and contain step by step instuctions detailing every aspect of Zider. As well as diving into what theoretically could be done with the engine in a game or other scenario. I will not go into more detail here because it will take to long and there is a 2500 charicter limit to this text. First put together a couple of things you have made weather it be an add-in for vb or the start of a game or editor don't worry if it is finished or not. Select 1 or 2 of your best works and email it to me. (Sourses only) As well as some info about what you think you are able to achieve or have achieved in programming but have not begun or have stopped because it was taking too long or you just gave up. As well as the reason for giving up on it. I want to get a sence of who yo are and what you are about as a programmer. I will respect any works (Source Code) you give to me and will not use nor distribute it to others. if yo do not wish to submit source code at the very leat submit screen captures of your app in action. ## Deadline information All VB coders welcome. Unfortunately I am only asking for people with VB and DirectX 7 or 8 experience. As this is meant to be a fully VB project(s).
