I have done many testings on different sites for bug bounties and was responsible for the security of a web application of a PBX Software for three to four years. Also I'm very experienced in Linux servers, since the PBX run on CentOS. I would look in the server logs first, to see if there are any hints for the data lost (script, breach, system failure, etc).
