[login to view URL] is the UK's most advanced student property portal. In every city we are in, we list the properties of 95% of letting agents. Project summary: integrating our website with 'rightmove' and 'primelocation' data feeds. We have a highly advanced web design, built with Ruby on Rails. Until recently we had a full-time developer, who was part of the design team for [login to view URL] (the worldwide mobile network). He has, however, now been snapped up by a hedgefund for £100,000+ a year, and so is now part-time, putting in about 8 hours work a week. We urgently require several features to be added to our site. The first is to have properties automatically updated and added to our site, similar to [login to view URL] and primelocation.com. Currently, agents add a property to our website using a well-designed, simple form, and can then log in to their account to update the status of properties as either online(available) or offline (let). But, this involves much interaction with agents and they often find they do not have the time - particularly to add properties. Letting agents' internal property management programs (such as CFP, Rent Manager etc) are able to output a snapshot of a letting agent's property database as EITHER rightmove or primelocation 'format', including 'available for let' or 'let' status. We want to be able to accept these feeds so that properties can be automatically added to our site simply by sending the rightmove/primelocation format to our website. Letting agents simply don't have the time to add details for 100 properties via a form. The feed you design must be able to deal with all text fields (such as description, reference number, available dates, price) and also the photos associated with the property. Clearly this technology must be programmed in Ruby on Rails to successfully integrate with our site. The hardest challenge will be deducing 'areas' from the address. For each city we list a number of student areas (between 5 and 15). Yet these are not neceessarily stated in the address the agent will have. So we need to be able to associate different postcodes with different areas and set the area that way. ie. 36 Glanville Road, Oxford OX4 2DD would be in the Cowley area - but this is not stated in the address. Some look up on 'OX4 2DD' would provide the info that this is Cowley though. The simplest way to send the files to our site would be by FTP, but letting agents are generally not technically inclined and so having a small desktop tool they could use to send the files to our site would be an added bonus. Our site is the fastest growing property website in the UK, and successful completion of this project would win you the option of further work. Because of the high-profile of our business, it is important that the code is high quality and bug-free. It will be checked by our Chief Technology Officer, who has over 8 years experience in web design. In addition, as we expand across the UK our valuation will rise greatly, and high-performers may be offered an equity stake (ownership) in the business rather than cash payments for projects - if desired. We are currently number one on Google for terms like 'student housing oxford' 'student property oxford' and so forth, but we want to extent this presence to uk wide search terms. Thus we are also looking for SEO optimisers.
