Write some Software

I have a database for which I require a number of tools creating. I have written a number of PowerShell scripts that I have written to pull relevant information from my database, but as most of this information is ending up in an Excel spreadsheet it would be nice to migrate my tasks into macros and have the information automatically populate my workbook. Task 1: After the user specifies a path to a project\database the macro will write three strings into a particular file ([login to view URL]) that exists in multiple folders i.e. "c:\...\WINDOW\folder1\[login to view URL]", "c:\...\WINDOW\folder2\[login to view URL]". The macro will then read information from each of these files to polpulate three columns in a table. Also information will be read from "c:\...\WINDOW\[login to view URL]", "c:\...\WINDOW\[login to view URL]". Task 2: This macro will read one aspect of the three pieces of information being read in task 1 from the '[login to view URL]' files, to keep one column up to date on demand. Task 3: The first macro would have read folder names contained in "c:\...\WINDOW\..." folder1, folder2 etc. into column one. There will be a fifth column where the user can specify an identifier, one of three possibilities, to each folder name in column one. Based on this identifier I need a third macro to set the file attribute of a number of files relating to this folder to 'read-only' and reflect this read-only status in column six. This macro could be a toggle, so that if the file attribute is change back on forth, checking and unchecking read-only, on successive clicks of a button. Task 4: There will be two other copies of this database in use in two other locations. If the user can specify two separate paths to two other projects, for all of the folders in "c:\...\WINDOW\..." that exist in the other projects say compare and say whether the files are "same" or "different". I do this in PowerShell comparing hash values. I'm not sure what is possible with a macro. Moreover if there are additional files in "c:\...\WINDOW\...", get and display the file names on a second sheet. I could do this with a little time, but I want to migrate the functionality of my PowerShell scripts into an Excel workbook with Macros so I have amore sophisticated singular tool. This project although for work, will come from my personal expenditure, but I'm confident it will be a quick a simple task for more experienced readers...
