Fast growing printing company needs a GREAT web site so customers can ORDER PRINTING ON-LINE.
Web site should look professional, very clean and easy to navigate. Parts of site should incorporate Flash and/or Ajax whenever appropriate. Entire site should be written in ASP.NET using C# and link to a database (MS SQL Server 2005 or equivalent)
During the project and also at the end of the project, we will need ALL CODE and ALL ART and working files used to create this site in case we need to update the site and you have disappeared.
Below are some examples of current web sites that offer print ordering on-line. We are not affiliated with ANY of these sites but we want our site to work like these:

Just like these sites offer, our website needs to have the following features:
1. EASY to navigate and professionally done
2. Must give the user the ability to order business cards, postcards, posters, brochures, letterhead and envelopes and all of the same products the above sites have.
3. If user has his/her own logo or artwork, the site must allow them to upload the file(s)
5. Web site must offer two ways to order printing:
METHOD 1: Customer has already designed artwork and just needs to upload the file to us. Customer selects product, then selects quantity and ship method. User sees shipping charge after they enter their ship-to Postal Code. User must read and agree to terms and conditions. User clicks Continue button and then uploads his/her files. User must be able to upload files without the need for special plug-ins.
METHOD 2: Customer knows that he/she wants to order a postcard (for example) but does not have one already created. Customer must have the ability to log into our site, select product, then select from one of our pre-designed templates, and then order it. User must have the ability to enter text that is to appear on the product (i.e. postcard) select the font type, size and color. User must also have the ability to upload artwork (i.e. pictures and/or their company logo). Web site must have the ability to generate a hi-res, print ready PDF file. Customer will not have access to this file, but WE will need this file to print their order. It is VERY important that this PDF file match EXACTLY what the customer ordered.
Customer picks a design, uploads a file (optional), enters text, and clicks the ‘Preview' button to see a preview of their order. Preview MUST represent EXACTLY how the final printed piece will look. (For example, if the customer uses the font ‘Copperplate 32AB' in 12 point type, 14 point leading, and picks RED as the color, then THIS is what they must see on screen.
NOTE: A company called DataLogics writes software that does what we are looking for. Please visit their web site and WE will purchase this software IF you know how to use it and incorporate it seamlessly into our site. [login to view URL]
ANOTHER company that makes software is called XM-Pie. [login to view URL]
We prefer that you use XM-Pie. Please review the software products and let us know if you HAVE THE ABILITY to use them and make them part of our site. We will purchase the software. It is to be licensed SOLELY for the exclusive use of Our Printing Company (We), Inc. (You must only use this software for our site) and must discontinue use of the software after our web site project is complete.
6. Web site MUST interface with UPS and FedEx so that user can enter their ship-to address and see the total shipping charges. Our Printing Company (We) MUST have the ability to mark-up that price. (i.e. retrieve the shipping price from UPS or FedEx, mark up the shipping 15% and then show THAT price to the customer)
7. Web site MUST have an administration page where the Our Printing Company administrator can log in and see all order history, run queries, view ALL users and passwords, and make changes if necessary
8. Web site MUST handle secure credit card transactions. On-line ordering must be safe and guaranteed. Funds will be deposited into our merchant account.
9. Our database MUST NOT store credit card numbers. It MUST store other user data such as date the order was placed, billing address, ship-to address, products ordered, etc.
10. Web site must be designed in such a way that Our Printing Company (We) can edit its contents easily. Our Printing Company (We) must be able to add more pre-designed templates for customers to choose from.
11. Web site must give the user the ability to log on and check order status. (Our Printing Company (We) must have a password protected page (part of our admin page) that allows us to log in, look up an order, and update that record with shipping method, tracking number and ship date). When user logs in to check order status, clicking on the tracking number will redirect him/her to the UPS or FedEx site to see shipping status.
12. Web site must have a link the user can click on to start a real-time chat session with our customer service department. WE must have the ability to turn this feature on or off (if off, the user does not even see the link, or the link says ‘Not Available at this time')
13. User must have the ability to send us an RFQ (Request for Quote) for items that cannot be instantly quoted on-line (i.e. publications, catalogs)
