Force Directed Collapsible Interactive Network Diagram

We are the Frederick S Pardee Center for International Futures, a research institution at the University of Denver. Part of our work relies on a long-term, global forecasting software called International Futures (IFs). We are looking to build a network diagram of the software we use. We are currently developing a new website in Drupal and would like this network diagram to be on it. We would like to build a force-directed, collapsible, interactive network diagram. While d3js is a potential library for use, this is not the only option and if the developer has a better proposal then we are welcome to suggestions. It will be on our website which is written in Drupal so it must be compatible. The diagram must be dynamic and interactive. It must be compatible with Chrome, IE (7 and above), Mozilla Firefox, Safari, and Opera. It must also be compatible with phones and tablets. The developer must read through all background material and diagrams before bidding on this project. There are many different functionalities we have outlined in the attached material but there may be additional work moving forward. I have also attached some stylistic sketches built in powerpoint to give a more visual idea of what we are looking for. These are not exactly what we want however, and the developer is expected to offer a much more aesthetically appealing diagram than the sketches we have built.
