Blog development and design

We are looking to develop the first phase of a sports blog with a long-term goal of expanding it, attracting corporate sponsors and becoming affiliated with an established sports media organization. JOB DESCRIPTION: 1. Install Wordpress including assistance with registering the domain name, finding the best hosting group, etc. 2. Help identify the appropriate fonts and layout of blog. 3. Present several logo designs. 4. Develop template that is not bare-bones, but streamlined and welcoming to readers. The format will mostly be articles with head shots and the occasional picture. 5. Teach bloggers (1 or 2) how to use Wordpress and post articles. 6. We anticipate that there will be the occasional trouble-shooting and additional development as our readership grows. SKILLS NEEDED 1. Comfortable knowledge of how to install Wordpress. 2. Some graphic design knowledge as it pertains to designing the logo (name of blog) and background visuals. 3. Ability to succinctly explain how the system works and how to use it to 1-2 bloggers who are technologically capable but unfamiliar with Wordpress. 4. Excellent and direct communication skills. 5. Will work primarily with 1 blogger on ideas and examples of layout and visual design. 5. A sense of humor is a plus! 6. Definitely need a good listener and someone who responds in a timely manner. 7. Someone who will make this easy for us, be proactive and save us time. WORKING RELATIONSHIP A successful working relationship will include the ability for both sides to listen well to each other. The designer needs to communicate info in a timely and easy-to-understand manner. The bloggers have easy-going personalities and humor and it's helpful for both parties to enjoy the process. The point person for the blog has experience in evaluating visual work and will be up-to-speed as layout, fonts, lines, etc. are described and determined. We believe that this will be a fairly-direct process. We have spent time envisioning and developing our ideas and believe we can clearly describe our desired results, explain what we don't like and easily describe how the rough product needs to be edited. We are also flexible when it comes to change and welcome the introduction of different ideas. It is hoped that down the road, we may rely upon this person to take our blog to the next level. Given the technical nature of this job, a good understanding of English is essential. We anticipate that the work will be done partially over email and partially over the phone. Both bloggers have full-time positions so times of availability will need to be discussed. We are open to both hourly as well as an entire project-based fee.
