on demand or daily produce a spreadsheet of the stocks about to go into earnings, the sentiment, put/call ratios, recent options activity, short ratios, etc. this spreadsheet will be the result of a series of data retrievals, the results of one driving the inputs of the next. this should be an os-independent application, able to run as a windows XP app as well as a linux process--perhaps using compiled python. It should use XML data wrappers (perhaps along the lines of XWRAP) to fetch pages from HTML web sites (some of which will require logon sequences) and return XML data sets. These data sets will be stored in a local database, with the source of the data, and the time retrieved for use in subsequent processing. The results of the queries should be visible both on an HTML page with sortable columns, as well as via a link to a dynamically generated .csv/.xls file from the same page. there should be a focus on architectural elegance and efficient processing at all levels--particularly with respect towards maximizing the use of resources once signed in to a site (minimizing page hits).
