I am a beginning python coder writing a tool to get text ([login to view URL]) or embed ([login to view URL][0].description) from discord servers using discord.py. I'm running into an error I don't understand with my bot where it can see messages are being sent, but when I try and read the contents it is only returning null. I have done basic troubleshooting like refreshing the discord token my bot is using, stepping through the code with breakpoints to examine the realtime variable values, but am stuck. Its probably something simple, so looking for someone with experience in python and discord to help fix my existing code/write something better for me.

If it’s a self bot, the discord version has to be 1.4.1 to be able to read message content. If it’s a discord bot, I’m not sure what the problem is but I can help as I have a ton of experience with discord bots.
