The Role of Music and Films in the Consumption of Marijuana
Abstract
Although allusions to cannabis use are common in American popular music and films, it is still unclear if hearing and watching these references is related to real cannabis use. We sought to ascertain if exposure to cannabis-related songs and movies in popular culture is independently correlated with current cannabis usage in a population of urban youngsters form the age of 15 to 25, which has allegedly become a way of life, in the state of Goa (specific to Talukas of Salcette, Murmagao, Tiswadi and Bardez).
Weed or Marijuana is not just a herb anymore, but a daily necessity for most who depend on it to carry out daily activities. The evolution of its usage may vary, but we put forth the formation and growth of a weed as a way of life through entertainment solely. We sought to identify the media exposures that are most significantly linked to teen marijuana use.
