Hi, I am a machine vision specialist running my own company and worked on many OCR and detection projects in manufacturing environments; www.messinasystems.com. The key for this project to have high accuracy is the image resolution; this is for the OCR and detection. I am not sure how much control you have but the accuracy of the output may need to be a range, for example between 590 and 595; this will also depend on the line thickness. Will these graphs be computer generated, or will they be a photo? Depending on the consistently I can set up regions to be analysed differently, it will be split into 4 parts, axis identification, OCR, graph identification and calculations. I can give more detail on the process if you could send some sample images. I look forward to discussing this project further with you.

This task can be easily accomplished by morphological operations in image processing using Matlab. Graphs have X & Y axis. Hence a line detection using Hough transform can be applied and followed by that, the range can be divided. I have worked with Tesseract OCR engines as well. I have modified the existing tesseract to handle more noisy and lower resolution image to obtain higher accuracy. I am an independent Image processing researcher with 8 years of industrial experience pursuing Doctoral degree and holding a Masters degree in core image processing area. I have 8+ years of experience in MATLAB and I am a pro in Matlab and average in OpenCV. I am a newbie to Freelancer and but have handful of experience in IP. I shall use Matlab and might be a little excel for this. First i shall take the edge and some main points from the graph then I will find the equation for the curve or use interpolation and then you can have as many points for that graph as you want.
