To better help you, I would need additional informations : - what should be the final form of the software : should it be a python script ? a javascript program usable through web browser ? - can you send the jpg example files ? because those are not visible in the project right now. - as you might know recognition success depend on the quality of the input image. can you provide with various examples of input images to serve as test case ? This is project is much easy. Few Questions: 1) Which OS you want to Run this ? I hope it will be Linux 2) Which target Board (Processor/SoC) are you planning for this? 3) Any specific recommendations of using open source only code/library? What I recommend is: 1) Linux 2) x86/AMD PC or Any other Embedded ARM based Board from TI/Freescale 3) OpenCV is image processing library So I will capture YUV data from WebCam via V4L2 APIs, Pass the video buffer to OpenCV which will detect the object of your region of interest, Based on detection I will save the Image into File, Then I will do Crop (Trim), Compressed it to BMP/PNG and Save it to File.
