I'm looking for a programmer to provide the following: create a simple program that can run through a Google Earth KML file and delete any duplicate placemarks. There is no way to do this in GE other than manual removal. With a file with thousands of duplicates from two similar data sets, this takes a lot of time. I used to work with a mapping program called Microstation 20 years ago, and we had a small program called DELDUP that could delete all duplicate coordinate points in our data files.

Hello, Do you have a technology preference for developing this program? If not, I can develop a simple utility in .NET that can parse a KML file and remove the duplicates. Also, do you want a UI that for example allows you to select the KML, press a button to start the process and displays feedback such as number of duplicate placemarks found and removed, current status of the process, etc? Or do you want something that runs in the background without the need for user intervention and maybe monitors a folder for any new KML file that may be dropped into it, parses and removes duplicates from those files and perhaps saves a report to a text file?
