Wordpress website design and build for church

A very small church in my city is in need of a new website. Their old site was built 15 or so years ago and is barely holding together. The new site will be built in Wordpress using the built-in standard editor. Some limited plugins are fine (must be free and up-to-date), but the site MUST be easily managed/updated by volunteers at the church, so cannot be overly complex. The site is mostly just a lot of text and some relevalt photos sprinkled in. Graphically, the design should be contemporary and welcoming, using fonts that area easily legible, but also not just "arial" or "Times New Roman"...a little character is good. Site must be fully responsive and built from a mobile perspective (but still look great on a widescreen PC). Examples of beautiful design will help you be selected. I will provide a library of photos, all the text content for the pages ready to copy/paste, and the menu/page structure (all to be provided to you in a Word document). The full site is about 20 pages of content, and each page will have at least one photo. Pages with "advanced" functionality (not just static copy) include an events calendar, newsfeed (articles posted directly to the site by admin with expiration date or ability to archive), a file library so that "worship bulletins" (pdf) can be posted to the worship page. There is also a "staff" page that lists several people...but it is just static content that rarely will change.
