Project Overview: • Develop a circuit • Develop microcontroller firmware for simple functionality** • Advise on component selection (cost and obsolesce risks are key). I have some key components already selected. • Layout board no bigger than 1.25 in [31mm] dia • generate and supply Gerber and BOM files • Build up prototype • Basic prototype tests • Supply support, as-needed for advice with integration of board into product (~ 2-8 hrs) • All materials are to be purchased by me, the client **Firmware Simple Functionality: 1) Initially, circuit is dormant, not looking for “event” switch signal 2a) Little micro push button (attached to the board) is pushed and now circuit is monitoring for “event” signal. Looks for “event” signal once every 0.25 seconds. 2b) Alternate configuration: No push button switch. Instead, hall effect sensor is triggered, when pulled away from its magnet, to cause circuit to monitor for “event” signal once every 0.25 seconds. 3) The “battery charge level” LED will then indicate charge state of the 3V on-board battery for 10 seconds, by either using: a) two color LED OR b) one color LED flashes to indicate how much charge battery has left 4) Unit waits for “event” signal from xxxxxxx, of sufficient strength to initiate emitter (piezo element) 5) Once emitter is going, it continues for 90 seconds. a) I would like at least 105 - 135 dB at 24 inches. More is preferable. b) The audio signal should be startling, unique and attention grabbing. Open to discussion on this. 6) After the 90 seconds of high volume sound is done, for next 60 minutes the unit beeps once every 30 seconds. 7) Push the micro-button, or re-unit with magnet, to make the circuit dormant again.

Very interesting job indeed. It will be two stage development cycle, first I will build the prototype to validate the working principle on a home brew PCB and then move forward to design the final PCB. Schematic will be very simple because only one micro controller will be enough to do everything. You haven't mentioned the battery type so I presume it as two AA (or AAA) cell or it could be a button cell like CR2032 kind. I would suggest you to use PIC12F1822 for this job because its cheap, works up to 2V level, its small enough (8pin) and runs without any external components. Most important thing is, its extreme low power device (XLP technology) so when the device in dormant state, then battery wont drain out in years. If the "event" is the switch then why would you need to check it every 0.25 sec ? because it could be sensed via interrupt immediately when the event occurs. We can discuss this as well as the beep sound if my proposal is fine with you. My bid includes everything, from procuring test components to build the test prototype on home brew PCB (may not look good or size constrain, but will be enough to validate the design and firmware), designing the final PCB layout (and Gerber files) in EAGLE within the space, BOM and will also assist you getting the PCB manufactured or complete assembling of the electronic part. I have many contacts in China who could give you best competitive price for that. Will assist you via Skype and mail when its needed. Thanks ... Roy

Dear, I have 9 years experience with multilayer PCB design . I pay attention to different signal lines routing to reduce all parasit effects. I'm also good with electronics so I can help with schematic design. I will bonus prepare 3D look of your device so you can see how final product will look like. I will do firmvare also. I have many connections in China for fast prototype manufacturing but there is possibility that I can assemnle and make your device so it will be much cheaper for you to product (and faster). I will do all component sourcing with best price/performance ratio. Later I can design and 3D case for your device. Dear Sir/Madam We can do the design of the electronics and uCU firmware for your project. Firmware will be released to you as object code to download it at the uCU we will use. We mostly use the Freescale's MC9S08xx series for small projects like yours. Need however some clarifications from your side. What are the "key components already selected" by you? Also we will have to send you a working prototype? Asking this because you are also saying that "all materials" (probably meaning the parts needed for the prototype board) will be purchased by you, and if that's the case, then you will have to send them to us at Greece to build & test the prototype, and then we'll send the prototype back to you at US? That's adding time & cost to finalize the project. Our offer includes parts & pcb cost, to develop it here and after testing it sending it to you. Feel free to ask us for more information if needed.
